I honestly didn’t expect PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie to give me something to think about beyond dinosaurs, explosions and the usual rescue missions.
But this movie actually had a message that I really liked.
The story takes the PAW Patrol pups to a mysterious island filled with dinosaurs after their ship gets caught in a storm. There, they meet Rex, a pup who has been stranded on the island for years and has become an expert on dinosaurs. Things become much more serious when Mayor Humdinger starts mining the island for its natural resources and accidentally triggers a dormant volcano.
And from there, the PAW Patrol has one of its biggest rescue missions yet.
But for me, the real story wasn’t even the dinosaurs.
It was Marshall.
Marshall is one of those characters who doesn’t always believe in himself. And in this movie, that becomes a major part of his journey.
There were moments where he questioned whether he was capable enough to handle the situation. And honestly, I think a lot of people can relate to that.
Sometimes, you look at other people and think they’re better than you.
Someone is faster than you.
Someone is smarter than you.
Someone seems more confident than you.
And then you start asking yourself, “What am I really good at?”
That’s what I liked about Marshall’s story.
He didn’t suddenly become a completely different character. He still had his fears and doubts. But he learned that being afraid doesn’t mean you’re incapable.
That’s a lesson children can learn from the movie, but honestly, adults can learn it too.
Another thing I liked was the way the pups worked together.
Nobody was expected to do everything alone.
When one pup struggled, the others helped.
When something went wrong, they didn’t just give up. They tried another approach.
That message stood out to me because sometimes we think that making a mistake means we have failed.
But a mistake can also teach you what to do differently the next time.
And that’s something Rex tells Marshall in the movie: mistakes are lessons that can show you how to do better.
I really liked that.
Because sometimes we are too hard on ourselves.
You make one mistake and immediately start thinking, “Maybe I’m not good enough.”
But what if the mistake isn’t the end?
What if it’s simply part of learning?
What if you fall today and tomorrow you understand something you didn’t understand before?
That’s where the movie’s message about perseverance comes in.
The filmmakers have also said that the movie was designed around ideas such as courage, perseverance and helping children recognize that they can make a difference.
And I think the movie delivers that message pretty clearly.
Of course, let’s not forget the dinosaurs.
The dinosaur island was probably one of the most entertaining parts of the movie. You have the pups dealing with dinosaurs, a volcano, dangerous situations and rescue missions that are much bigger than what they’re normally used to.
The action is also designed to be exciting without becoming too frightening for its young audience.
And I liked that balance.
It’s a children’s movie, so you don’t expect Jurassic Park levels of intensity. But the dinosaurs and the volcano give the movie enough scale to make the adventure feel bigger.
And then there’s Mayor Humdinger.
Honestly, this man never learns!
He sees the island and immediately starts thinking about what he can gain from it.
Instead of leaving the island alone, he starts mining for its natural resources, and his actions end up putting the island and its inhabitants in danger.
That part also carries a simple lesson: greed can make you do things without thinking about the consequences.
You see something valuable and immediately think, “How can I benefit from this?”
But sometimes, what you’re chasing can cause problems that are much bigger than the reward you wanted.
What I Took From the Movie
For me, the biggest lesson from PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie is simple:
Don’t give up on yourself just because you don’t feel capable.
You may not be the strongest person in the room.
You may not be the fastest.
You may make mistakes.
You may even be scared.
But none of those things automatically mean you can’t succeed.
Sometimes, you just need to keep going.
And sometimes, you need people around you who believe in you when you don’t believe in yourself.
That’s what I liked about the relationship between the PAW Patrol pups. They don’t just work together when everything is going well. They support each other when things go wrong too.
And I think that’s something we can all use in real life.
Have people around you who will remind you that one mistake doesn’t define you.
Have people around you who will encourage you when you are doubting yourself.
And most importantly, don’t give up on yourself.
My Final Thoughts
PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie is exactly what you would expect from a PAW Patrol movie: dinosaurs, action, rescues, comedy and plenty of adventure.
But underneath all of that, there is a simple message about courage, teamwork, confidence and perseverance.
And that’s what made the movie more meaningful to me.
It isn’t only about a group of puppies saving an island.
It’s also about learning that you can be afraid and still be brave.
You can make mistakes and still improve.
You can doubt yourself and still succeed.
And sometimes, the person who thinks they’re the least capable can surprise everyone—including themselves.
That’s the part of the movie I will remember.
